Why is art significant to young people?
At Brightstar international school of Phnom Penh, we think art is crucial for kids, particularly in the early stages of development.
Our conviction is supported by research, which demonstrates how art-making exercises help young learners’ brains grow.
After four weeks of preparation, our Grade 2 students finished their first-ever African Animal painting today.
Children’s senses are engaged in art-based open-ended play, which helps them develop their cognitive, social-emotional, and multisensory abilities.
During graduation later this year, we will do a charity art auction with all of the students’ artwork available for purchase.

What is the importance of water play in Early Childhood?
At BISPP, we believe in water play activities to help develop and strengthen children’s gross and fine motor skills.
Water play for young learners has many additional benefits for development too, such as enhancing social and emotional awareness, improving language and speech, sparking creativity and improving concepts of mathematics and science.
Young Learners enhance their gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination and physical fitness through lifting, pouring, carrying, running and splashing, while actions such as squeezing help to develop the small muscles in the children’s hands. This helps prepare our young leaners for the next stages of leaning.

At Brightstar International School of Phnom Penh, we believe teaching water safety from a young age is important because it is key for children to understand the dangers in the water and therefore how to behave in the water.
We believe swimming is a non-negotiable life skill. Whilst a range of extra-curricular skills are important for children to develop as rounded individuals, none are quite as important and fundamental as learning to swim.
Swimming has always been a great recreational activity and in order for children to enjoy the water environment they must feel safe. Learning how to be safe in water is taken very seriously at Brightstar International School of Phnom Penh and we find fun ways to incorporate it into our swimming practices during a lesson.

Why is promoting cultural diversity important?
At Brightstar International school of Phnom Penh, we welcome and work with 16 different nationalities on our campus.
Benefits of learning about, embracing and valuing cultural diversity include students being able to compassionately understand differences and avoid judgment by encouraging the contribution of diverse groups; empowering people to strengthen themselves and celebrating rather than just tolerating differences in order to bring about unity through diversity.
Cultural diversity is also a way of promoting a more fulfilling intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual life.
Our cultural day event saw students and staff from many different cultural backgrounds showcase their chosen country to our community. This event really brought out the importance of the community we have here at Brightstar International School of Phnom Penh and how truly diverse we are.
Today’s student activities were designed to celebrate first our host country of Cambodia with its rich culture and traditions and then expanded the students’ knowledge to include a further 7 countries.
The children did a whirlwind trip around the world, learning about cultures, fun facts, games, food, music and costumes.
By definition, diversity means welcoming a range of differing ideas and perspectives, at Brightstar International School of Phnom Penh we embrace our diverse community.

Warm-ups are important because they allow athletes to maximize physical performance and reduce injury risk during sports activities . At school, before soccer or basketball, all students do 10 mins of warm up before playing the sport. Students can then perform at their best and enjoy the team sports activities

Art is a subject that helps students to build self confidence through creative expression. Grade 2 students learned about animals from Africa and then used technique of sketching to showcase their creativity. Well done students!

At Brightstar International School of Phnom Penh, we understand the importance of learning many languages. So though English is the main language of instruction, we also offer Khmer and Chinese as elective subjects for our students. Spirit Week- Day 5: បើនិយាយពីសិស្សានុសិស្ស និងលោកគ្រូ អ្នកគ្រូរបស់យើងគឺពិតជាបានពាក់មួកស្អាតៗប្លែកៗ ថែមទាំងមានគំនិតច្នៃប្រឌិតខ្ពស់ដូចដែលលោកអ្នកបានឃើញក្នុងរូបថតនេះស្រាប់។ ពួកយើងពិតជាធ្វើបានយ៉ាងល្អ រួមទាំងឪពុកម្ដាយ ដែលបានចូលរួមសហការអស់ពីកំលាំងកាយទាំងអស់គ្នា។ អរគុណ Spirit Week ដែលបានធ្វើអោយពួកយើងទាំងអស់គ្នានៅក្នុងសាលាអន្តរជាតិ ប្រាយស្តារភ្នំពេញ ឱ្យកាន់តែមានភាពជិតស្និតជាមួយគ្នា។
Spirit Week- Day 5: Crazy hat Day- Best day to wear hats as the sun was out too! Some students and teachers came in rather unusual hats that were very creative as you will see in the photos .Well done all , parents included for your effort and participation. Spirit week was once again a great success and has surely brought our BISPP community closer. Gentle reminder we are back to uniforms as per the class schedule next week. Have a great weekend all!
