Brightstar’s Summer Programme continues this week with Prehistoric Adventures!
This week students will be learning all about forms of life that existed before humans evolved on Earth; this time period is known as prehistoric times. Many of those living things are now extinct, which means they have completely disappeared. Prehistoric times after humans evolved are typically divided into three separate eras: the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. Our adventures will rediscover them this week!

Playing outside, using one’s imagination, expressing oneself creatively via art, music, and dance, and exploring one’s natural environment are all great ways for children to learn through experience. Children who have opportunities to explore the world on their own develop more creative minds and they effectively remember their learning.

This week at Brightstar, we’re learning about animals in their many different habitats. Animals from all walks of life, including those in the wild, zoos, and farms.
Investigating the intricacies of their social systems, food webs, and customary habits.
Our regular routines, including swimming and sports, continue uninterrupted.

Why should children dance?

The benefits of dance on our students’ growth and health are innumerable.

Children must move, move, move!

At Brightstar we believe it’s imperative to find ways to get youngsters moving (particularly in the digital age).

In addition to burning calories and strengthening muscles, dancing also enhances balance, promotes flexibility, and works the heart. Additionally, dance has been shown to improve cognitive growth. Brightstar has always understood that the body and the mind are inextricably linked, and recent study reinforces this idea by demonstrating the benefits of exercise on the brain, and of course it is great fun too!

In the initial stages of development, Brightstar Early Years teachers conduct free play activities. These activities have a function that allows children to ask questions, test out theories, and gather data in order to improve their conceptual knowledge. They experiment with educational materials and use those experiences to plan, explore, and learn. Children can make sense of their surroundings and build their self-esteem through constructive play.

What Does Swimming at Brightstar Look Like?

At Brightstar, we know the entire body must be coordinated in order to swim smoothly. The ability to control breathing and swimming strokes, as well as the movement of the arms and legs, must all be paid attention to.

So, in order to become an outstanding swimmer, our students must first master the fundamentals.

Our swimmers need to acquire the following 5 fundamental swimming techniques:

1. Breathing

2. Floating

3. Well co-ordinated body movements

4. Kicking

5. Strokes

Our Brightstar International school community hosted a celebration for Khmer New Year, 2023 in respect of Cambodian tradition.

What makes customs important?

Traditions play a crucial role in our students’ sense of identity and belonging. They help foster virtues like selflessness, freedom, faith, integrity, receiving the highest education, taking responsibility for one’s actions, and having a good work ethic.

Our event included traditional contests and games, clothing, and delicious holiday foods.
