Our weekly topic is Earth Rangers! Planetary survival and animal preservation are at the heart of this movement.
For one week, our classes will transform into Earth Rangers dedicated to teaching about and protecting their planet. Brightstar believes that helping our children discover their ability to act on environmental challenges leads to a brighter outlook, optimism and hope for the future of the planet.
By providing them with engaging and informative resources, we equip children to take on environmental leadership roles at school.

Why should children dance?
The benefits of dance on our students’ growth and health are innumerable.
Children must move, move, move!
At Brightstar we believe it’s imperative to find ways to get youngsters moving (particularly in the digital age).
In addition to burning calories and strengthening muscles, dancing also enhances balance, promotes flexibility, and works the heart. Additionally, dance has been shown to improve cognitive growth. Brightstar has always understood that the body and the mind are inextricably linked, and recent study reinforces this idea by demonstrating the benefits of exercise on the brain, and of course it is great fun too!

In the initial stages of development, Brightstar Early Years teachers conduct free play activities. These activities have a function that allows children to ask questions, test out theories, and gather data in order to improve their conceptual knowledge. They experiment with educational materials and use those experiences to plan, explore, and learn. Children can make sense of their surroundings and build their self-esteem through constructive play.

What Does Swimming at Brightstar Look Like?
At Brightstar, we know the entire body must be coordinated in order to swim smoothly. The ability to control breathing and swimming strokes, as well as the movement of the arms and legs, must all be paid attention to.
So, in order to become an outstanding swimmer, our students must first master the fundamentals.
Our swimmers need to acquire the following 5 fundamental swimming techniques:
1. Breathing
2. Floating
3. Well co-ordinated body movements
4. Kicking
5. Strokes

Our Brightstar International school community hosted a celebration for Khmer New Year, 2023 in respect of Cambodian tradition.
What makes customs important?
Traditions play a crucial role in our students’ sense of identity and belonging. They help foster virtues like selflessness, freedom, faith, integrity, receiving the highest education, taking responsibility for one’s actions, and having a good work ethic.
Our event included traditional contests and games, clothing, and delicious holiday foods.

Why do we have water play in Early Years?
The physical and mental benefits of playing in water are well-documented.
Our students benefited greatly from water play during the run up to the Khmer New Year celebrations and the hot weather.
Lifting, pouring, carrying, running, and splashing are all great ways for kids to work on their gross motor skills, coordination, and physical fitness, while activities like squeezing are great for working on their fine motor skills.

Why are gross motor skills important in sport?
A child’s balance, coordination, strength, body awareness, and reaction speed all depend heavily on their gross motor skills.
At Brightstar, we encourage children to play sports both with and without obstructions to develop their gross motor abilities.
These activities teach kids to control and coordinate their body movements as well as improve their hand-eye coordination.
This week in sports, the key goals were developing running techniques, feinting and dodging skills. To make it more challenging, the game’s objective varied every two rounds, so they also practiced their listening skills.

Why is art significant to young people?
At Brightstar international school of Phnom Penh, we think art is crucial for kids, particularly in the early stages of development.
Our conviction is supported by research, which demonstrates how art-making exercises help young learners’ brains grow.
After four weeks of preparation, our Grade 2 students finished their first-ever African Animal painting today.
Children’s senses are engaged in art-based open-ended play, which helps them develop their cognitive, social-emotional, and multisensory abilities.
During graduation later this year, we will do a charity art auction with all of the students’ artwork available for purchase.
